We are looking to recruit a full time, permanent Health Care Support Worker based at University Hospital Hairmyres

JOB PURPOSE

  • As part of a multidisciplinary team, the post holder will carry out routine personal care/assist with routine examination duties for patients, in support of (and supervised by), a registered nurse/clinician.
  • To ensure a person centred approach to care delivery which is safe and effective to ensure and maintain quality strategy.
  • To carry out assigned duties to maintain hygiene, order and safety within the ward/department environment.
  • Duties may vary with the type of ward/department and the degree of patient dependency.

Please note: The successful candidate will be required to undertake a variety of shifts which include days, evenings, nights, weekends, public holidays. and have the Ability to rotate between different departments or sites when required.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

  • Knowledge of personal care and related procedures or previous volunteer or work experience in a health, education or social environment.
  • Required to undertake on the job training and induction
  • Undertake mandatory HCSW standards
  • Ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry out assigned tasks effectively in a busy environment.
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology.
